The Keswick Daycare was introduced to SODA in December of 2023. Excited to work with our previous client for a third time, we were eager and anxious to get moving on a new undertaking.

In-keeping with the historical nature of the building, SODA approached the design differently and through a lens of sensitivity, deliberate and intentional design logic.

Minimal demolition took place and simple movements to separation of spaces was considered allowing for unique spaces to take form for students.

Significantly elevated above grade due to its previous use as a Church, the building required updating to meet today’s Building and Accessibility Codes. With this in mind, the team at SODA designed a new barrier free ramp to the west of the building and created new openings allowing for a clear and unobstructed barrier free bath of travel.

Further, access to an exterior, safety / privacy fence is included allowing for outdoor play and natural sunset light.
